    K4 Filing with Skatteguru

    Last updated: June 13, 2026

Use this guide when you already have data in Skatteguru and want to review your K4 output, resolve incomplete data, and file with confidence.

Skatteguru prepares K4-ready data from your uploaded broker exports and documents, but you still need to review the result before filing. This guide focuses on the product workflow: missing acquisition data, filing instructions, and SRU export.

    Need K4 basics first?

If you want the general rules, sections, and declaration-field mapping, read K4 Form Basics.

    What Skatteguru gives you

    • Grouped K4 rows and section totals based on your source data.
    • Filing instructions that show where section totals belong in the Swedish declaration flow.
    • An SRU export path when you want Skatteverket import to carry over the prepared values.

    Recommended filing path

For most users, the cleanest flow is to review the K4 in Skatteguru, export the SRU file, and use the import function in Skatteverket's Inkomstdeklaration 1 e-service.

    What 'Incomplete Data' usually means

    Missing buy history

If you upload a sale but Skatteguru cannot see when the shares were acquired, it cannot calculate the acquisition cost correctly.

    Corporate actions

Splits, reverse splits, spin-offs, and similar changes can alter the cost basis and require more detailed history or explicit review.

    Cross-broker history gaps

If you moved holdings between brokers or sold assets bought elsewhere, Skatteguru needs the full transaction chain across all relevant sources.

How to resolve incomplete data in practice

    • Upload missing broker exports or confirmations from every place where the asset was bought, transferred, or sold.
    • Use the generic CSV format when you need to add missing historical trades manually.
    • Review special-rule scenarios such as same-day sales, currency conversion, short sales, or foreign-currency holdings if they affect your cost basis.

    Upload native exports first

Always upload the native broker export before rebuilding data in the generic CSV format. Use CSV as a repair or supplement layer, not the first choice.

How to file once the review looks right

When your K4 review is complete, use the filing instructions in Skatteguru and prefer SRU import when available.

    Two common filing paths

    • SRU import in Inkomstdeklaration 1: best when you want the prepared section totals moved into the correct declaration fields automatically.
    • Manual filing: use Skatteguru’s totals and copy them into the declaration fields yourself.

If you are using SRU files, follow the detailed step-by-step guide here:

    Uploading SRU Files to Skatteverket

When Skatteguru may still need manual judgment

Some situations remain judgment-heavy even with good source data: transferred holdings, incomplete historical records, and corporate actions with non-trivial cost-basis effects.

In those cases, use the K4 review as a structured checkpoint, not a substitute for verifying the underlying tax treatment.
