    3. 2025 05 12 Sru File Download Launch
    May 12, 2025

New Features: SRU Download & Exchange Rate Control

Feature 1: Download Your K4 as an SRU File

Illustration of SRU file download feature

We've now enabled for everyone the ability to download your K4 form data directly as an SRU (Standardiserat Räkenskapsutdrag) file from Skatteguru.

What are SRU Files and Why Use Them?

SRU is an official file format used by Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency). By downloading your K4 data in this format, you can directly upload it to Skatteverket's e-service ("Filöverföring"). This eliminates the need for manual data entry of each individual stock sale, saving you significant time and reducing the risk of errors.

How to Download Your SRU File

Using the new feature is straightforward:

    1. Navigate to the K4 Form tab for the tax year you want to file.
    2. Click the "Download K4 as SRU" button located near the top of the K4 table.
    3. A popup will ask for your Personal Number (12 digits) and Full Name. Ensure these match Skatteverket's records exactly.
    4. Click "Download" and the SRU file will be saved to your computer.
    Ready to Upload?
Once downloaded, you can upload the file via Skatteverket's website. For a detailed walkthrough, see our guide:

Feature 2: Control Exchange Rate Lookups on Holidays

Illustration of SRU file download feature

We've also enabled a new advanced setting to give you more control over how exchange rates are applied to your transactions, especially those that occur on weekends or bank holidays.

    Understanding the Default Behavior

When a transaction date falls on a day when Sveriges Riksbank does not publish rates (like a weekend or public holiday), our system, by default, looks backwards and forwards to find the rate from the nearest available business day. If the transaction date is equally close to both, the choice might seem arbitrary.

    Introducing: "No Future Exchange Rates"

Some users prefer to always use the rate from the nearest previous available business day. To accommodate this, we've introduced a new toggle in the Ledger analysis settings: "No Future Exchange Rates".

    • Disabled (Default): Uses the rate from the nearest available business day (past or future).
    • Enabled: Uses the rate from the previous available business day only.

    How to Access the Setting

You can find this new option in the Dashboard under Ledger Settings:

    1. Go to your Ledger.
    2. Click the Settings icon () next to the Ledger heading.
    3. In the popover menu, find the toggle labeled "No Future Exchange Rates".
    4. Enable or disable it. The analysis will automatically update.

Always making taxes easier, calculations more accurate, and filing faster.
