Export CSV from Interactive Brokers (IBKR)
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Beta Status
IBKR offers several ways to export your transaction data. The best option depends on what you need:
| Goal | Method | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Stock/option trades only | Trade Confirmation Flex Query | Cleanest data — recommended |
| Trades + dividends + fees + corporate actions | Activity Flex Query | More comprehensive |
| Quick overview | Activity Statement | Sectioned format, less reliable for import |
Method 1: Trade Confirmation Flex Query (Recommended)
This produces the cleanest, most consistent trade data and works best with Skatteguru’s parser.
Log in to IBKR Client Portal
Navigate to Flex Queries
Create a new query
Configure the query
Set the following:
- Format: CSV
- Include these fields:
Date/Time
Execution date and time
Symbol
Ticker symbol
Quantity
Number of shares
Price (Fill Price)
Price per share
Commission / Fee
Transaction fees
Side (Buy/Sell)
Transaction direction
Description
Security description
Currency
Transaction currency
Save and run the query
Upload to Skatteguru
Method 2: Activity Flex Query (Full Transaction History)
Use this when you want trades, dividends, corporate actions, and cash movements in one file.
Navigate to Flex Queries
Create a new Activity Flex Query
Select sections and fields
Include these sections:
- Trades
- Cash Transactions
- Transaction Fees
- Corporate Actions (optional)
For each section, include fields for: Date/Time, Symbol, Quantity, Price, Amount/Proceeds, Commission/Fee, Description, Type/Side, and Currency.
Set format and save
Run and download
Cash Transactions Are Fine to Include
Skatteguru’s parser will ignore pure cash rows that don’t have a symbol, so including both Trades and Cash Transactions in one export works without issues.
Method 3: Activity Statement (Quick but Not Ideal)
For a fast overview, you can download an Activity Statement:
Navigate to Statements
Generate the statement
Limitation
Activity Statements use a sectioned format that is less consistent and may require extra cleanup. Use Method 1 or 2 whenever possible.
Tips for Best Results
- Date range: IBKR may limit large exports. If you have a long history, export one year at a time and upload each file separately.
- Multiple accounts: Use the account selector when creating your query to choose the right account.
- Always choose CSV: Do not use XML or Text format.
- Verify before uploading: Open the CSV in a spreadsheet app and check that it has clear columns for Date, Symbol, Quantity, and transaction type.
Currency Handling
IBKR transactions can be in multiple currencies (USD, EUR, SEK, etc.). Skatteguru will automatically convert values to SEK using exchange rates from Riksbanken (the Swedish Central Bank) for the appropriate dates.
